  1. What does ETOP offer?
    Besides a relaxed and flexible environment for learning the English language, ETOP also offers fun events to celebrate the different cultures and traditions that are represented within the organisation. Please refer to courses and syllabus outline for more information on the English Tuition offered.
  2. How are lessons delivered?
    • Students are grouped according to their proficiency levels ie
      • Basic - LAMB
      • Intermediate - SHEEP
      • Advanced - RAM
    • A pool of teachers is allocated to each group for general classroom teaching
    • A tutor is assigned to each student to monitor the actual progress of the student
    • The usual order of class is as follows:
      • 30 minutes of ice-breaker – all students and teachers to participate
      • 5 minutes of announcements – to update on upcoming events, etc.
      • 45 minutes of classroom session
      • 40 minutes of tutorial
  3. Where and When do we meet?
    We meet every Saturday, 2:30pm – 4:30pm at the SIB KL Cafeteria on Level 4 of Bangunan Yin, Section 16/11, Jalan Damansara, 46350 PJ, Selangor.
    Parking fee is RM 1 flat, after validation. Otherwise, you pay an hourly rate of RM 2.50.

    Our lessons are specially designed to allow for flexibility and practical application.
    Our teachers are friendly and fun volunteers who are dedicated to help you in your area of need….. even if it has nothing to do with English!

SPEAKING – Level 100 ( basic )

Unlocking the mouth

Students will practice saying common English words and phrases. This course will involve many visual aids and songs.

Pronunciation of alphabets

This will be a short course on vowels and consonants where students will practise making the relevant sounds

Everyday conversations

This will be an introductory course on conversation from both a reactive and proactive standpoint. This will involve set Q&A type exercises at a very basic level.

Unlocking words into alphabets (Phonics) and syllables

Students will learn the pronunciation of the English alphabets. Simple words will then be introduced by joining letters to make these words. This course runs parallel with LIST 101

This course will focus on reading and comprehension using short sentences and simple paragraphs. Student will learn to comprehend the content as well as the vocabulary within the material used

This will be a short course, building upon READ 101 whereby exceptions to the general rules of pronunciation will be introduced

Everyday Discussions

This will be focusing on practical everyday situations both in a formal and informal environment. The objective is for the student to practice speaking and conversing as much as possible.

Students will learn to visualize words as they are spoken. Spelling will be covered but that won’t be the main focus.

This course will look at the different methods and styles of writing from a creative and expressive standpoint. It will provide students a structure to which they can construct a piece of personal written expression.

Unlocking the tongue

This course is designed to help students overcome the common areas of difficulty. Eg. pronunciations involving the letters “A, L, R, W & V”.

Light & Easy: speaking effortlessly

With foreign tongue loosened, the students are now able to learn proper pronunciation of English words. The objective of this course is to help students read short simple English passages comfortably and naturally.

Phonetics and understanding structure of pronunciation

Students will learn to pronounce any English word from written symbols, and code the pronunciation keys from verbal sounds.
At the end of the course, the student will have a comprehensive grasp of primary, secondary and neutral accents in speech.

This course seeks to train the student’s ear to pick out essential words and theme from a spoken piece.
