Journaling Tips

SCRIPTURE - God's Word To Us.

Overleaf is the reading plan for the whole year. Read the scripture for the day and sit back. What scriptures hit you hard? Well, maybe God is speaking to you! Write down the scripture - or the reference.
Example : HEB 13:2 - Do not neglet to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

OBSERVATION - God's Word To Them.

What is your response to the passage? Write down what and why you respond this way - thoughts, wonderings, emotions and questions. Did someone do something what reminded you of something you did? Did God say/do something that struck you?
Example : Wow. This verse is powerful for it directs my words and actions towards those around me.

APPLICATION - God's Word To Me.

How would the chosen verse apply to me? Has something in you changed? Shifted? Write down your thoughts and musings.
Example : My actions and words need to be like me treating angels - I need to treat people with love, respect, honour & grace. It doesn't matter if they are indeed angels, for in another verse in the Bible, I remember it says that when we serve one another in love, we are srevingGod in love!

PRAYER - My Word To God.

Commit to Christ your journal & quiet time. He's spoken to you and your response is speaking to Him - now you can seal this time in prayer and thank Him for the word for today.
Example : Father, give me grace Lord. When I accepted You as my Lord and Saviour I surrendered all my rights and my fleshly desires to you. Let me remember daily that as I interact and live among people you died for, let me treat each of them with grace, honour & love. Inmy words & actions, let me not grieve you. Amen.

Journaling is exciting and it also keep one discipline to track your private & intimate moments with God on a daily basis. I have been journaling for many years but I have been more intense and committed to journaling in the last 2 to 3 yrs. It is a great tool as you can read your life journey with God and if you are true to the pen, you see the times or seasons when you are out of sync with God and areas of personal victory in one\'s walk with God. In situations where we run short in our lives, God shows up in His Love, Grace and Mercy. More recent as I have been challenged to wake early to be in God\'s presence daily and dwelling in His Word and Presence, it gives great joy and assurance amidst the storms in the workplace or one\'s life. As I make the effort to journal with God and map one\'s spiritual life, it is such a great blessing! It is in the time of difficulties that you see God working in a miraculous way. Someone said: If you don\'t meet the impossible you will never see God\'s miraculous! The Word of God comes alive and it really blesses you. Passages like Psalm 91:14-15. Because he loves me - and when he call upon me I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. What great assurance in times of difficulties to have this REST in the Shadow of the Almighty! Verses like Isaiah 41:14 is so initimate! where God declares, He himself will personally help us. \"Do not be afraid....for I myself will help you,\" declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Wow! for the first time, this verse came out the page and it was so encouraging as I was facing difficulty in my work place. Difficult people that I had to deal with soon became my friends and it is the good hand of God and His favour!

AS you journal daily and when you review what has happened in your walk with God, you begin to see so many answered prayers in your life and certainly one can give thanks to a loving God! In the year of increasing capacity, personally for me I can see God really stretching me personally in the spiritual, physical and emotionally. I realise that for me to grow or increased in capacity, it requires quiet submission to allow God to work out in your life. It can be a humbling experience at most times but you begin grow out of adversity and testing. As you experience victory over each circumstances, you need to build on each victory. The victory could be a simple thing where you know it was God who helped you say in your workplace but treasure the \"victory experience\" so that you can build on it. Like they say in Bahasa, sedikit sedikit menjadi bukit.Faith Increases as you exercise it daily - Faith muscles. Happy journaling with the Lord: in the year of Increasing Capacity! God Bless! I have only started journaling this year but I find that ever since I started,I have had a closer relationship with God.I used to have some doubts about God but now my doubts are cleared.I\'d like to thank Pastor Chew for encouraging us to read the Bible because it is truly a great experience!
