to
proclaim freedom for the captives and
release from darkness for the prisoners
Isaiah 61:1
The
Prison Ministry is aimed at bringing a message of forgiveness,
love and hope in Christ Jesus to inmates of the Kajang and
Sg. Buloh prisons. The stigmatization and problems associated
with crime make it difficult for ex-prisoners to make it on
their own. After care is thus
a very important aspect of this ministry. By partnering Malaysian
Care, support is given to ex-prisoners to assist their assimilation
back into society.
We
also minister to detained refugees and their families, with
our present focus being on the MyanmarChins. There are presently
more than 50,000 refugees in Malaysia and the majority of
them belong to the Chin tribes. Due to their present unrecognized
status by our government, families are unscrupulously detained
with the rest of their family members left defenseless and
often left without food and basic necessities.
Even
before meeting any spiritual needs, their dire situation compels
us to first provide for their physical and emotional needs.
